Introducing Google Earth.

Canning Comment Spam

Today, I noticed my blog had become the target of comment spammers. To
combat this, I’ve slightly modified the AkoComment script to include a
hidden variable that changes when the Javascript validation is
activated. This should ensure (for the time being) that a human is
actually clicking the button to submit a comment. Yeah, it’s security
through obscurity, so we’ll just have to see if this works. In the
meantime, why don’t you go check out some of that 100% legal online poker?

It’s official

Groups of developers now have the right to take
your well maintained, humble abode and pave it over in the name of
higher tax revenues. We’re not talking about a bridge, rail line, or
public utility here, but a private corporate campus.

Continuing PBS Debate

Over at GetReligion, a huge debate
has sparked over federal funding for the Public Broadcasting System. I

offerings in defense of killing off PBS, as many of these commercial programs are
at least inspired by (if not directly piped from) the lineup of another
public broadcasting entity.

Google to offer payment system

From the New York Times. (thanks to mambofrog)
I hate programming for PayPal based solutions. They have this "sandbox"
where you can test features such as the Instant Payment Notification
system. The problem with this system is the fact that it can take
multiple hours for an "instant" test payment to clear. Understandably,
this makes development very difficult.

Why waste on waste?

Environmentally-sensitive urinals don’t use water, yet stay fresh and clean.

Just what every SUV owner needs

Fake mud.

I share a birthday with PHP

PHP, the programming language this website is ultimately written in, was released 10 years ago today, which is also my birthday ;)

Obligatory Apple Announcement Post

After two and a half decades of claiming technical superiority over Intel-based systems, Apple has announced
a permanent move towards Intel processors in future products. And just
when I was thinking of getting a Mac Mini. (more coverage at ArsTechnica)
